Philippians 4:8 (NIV) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

  2. What difference does it make what you think about?
  3. To what degree can you control what you think about? Can we just decide to think about such things?
  4. How could you get better at controlling what you think about?
  5. Why do you think Paul starts the list with what is true?
  6. What are some examples of some things that are noble?
  7. What are some examples of some things that are lovely?
  8. What are some examples of some things that are admirable?
  9. How would you imagine life is better for the person who thinks about such things?
  10. Romans 12.2 says we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. How can we cooperate with God in transforming our minds to think about such things.
  11. Just for today. How could you focus your mind on what is true and noble and right and pure and lovely and admirable and excellent and praiseworthy… just for today.
  12. Pray for one need in your friend’s life. Pray with your eyes open.
