John 3:16 (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
- Do we learn about ourselves from this verse?
- What do we learn about God?
- I am loved by God. I am God’s beloved. Is that how you see yourself?
- What do we learn about Jesus?
- What does it mean to believe?
- James said the devils believe. “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” James 2:19 (NIV) What is the difference in this belief?
- How does what we believe shape what we do?
- Does belief always shape behavior? Is it possible to believe and it not shape our behavior? If I said, “I believe in health food.” What would you expect to be in my pantry?
- If you found junk food in my pantry, could it really be true that I believe in health food?
- Is eternal life living a long time, or is there more to it than that?
- In John 17:3 Jesus said, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (NIV) What do we learn about eternal life?
- One man said to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 (NIV) Perhaps you can relate. Pray for each other that God would deepen our faith.
