John 3:16 (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

  1. Do we learn about ourselves from this verse?
  2. What do we learn about God?
  3. I am loved by God. I am God’s beloved. Is that how you see yourself?
  4. What do we learn about Jesus?
  5. What does it mean to believe?
  6. James said the devils believe. “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” James 2:19 (NIV) What is the difference in this belief?
  7. How does what we believe shape what we do?
  8. Does belief always shape behavior? Is it possible to believe and it not shape our behavior? If I said, “I believe in health food.” What would you expect to be in my pantry?
  9. If you found junk food in my pantry, could it really be true that I believe in health food?
  10. Is eternal life living a long time, or is there more to it than that?
  11. In John 17:3 Jesus said, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (NIV) What do we learn about eternal life?
  12. One man said to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 (NIV) Perhaps you can relate. Pray for each other that God would deepen our faith.
