3 John 2 (NIV) Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
- What does it mean that a soul is getting along well?
- Would you say that your soul is getting along well?
- What are some things we can do to ensure that our soul is getting along well?
- How important is our health to God? Does God care about our health, or only about our soul?
- How important is your health to you?
- Agree or disagree (and why): “Does God care about fitness? Not as much as He cares about your soul. He cares about eternity more than He cares about time. Physical training is not as important as spiritual training. Running is not as important as reading the Word. Working out is not as important as praying. But it is important.”[1]
- What are some things we can do to ensure that our health is getting along well?
- “America is fast becoming a nation of obesity and church people are leading the way. A 2006 Purdue study found that the fundamental Christians are by far the heaviest of all religious groups led by the Baptists with a 30% obesity rate compared with Jews at 1%, Buddhists and Hindus at 0.7%.”[2] Why do you suppose church people are America’s fattest people?
- What forms of exercise do you enjoy?
- What are some healthy foods you enjoy?
- Stress is a proven killer of good health. How can we deal with stress in a stressful world?
- How can we pray for each other this week?
