Matthew 6:9 (NIV) This, then, is how you should pray:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”

  1. Hallowed be your name. What exactly does that mean?
  2. The first thing Jesus taught us to do in prayer is to worship. Why do you think this is?
  3. What is worship? How would you define it? Is it something you feel? Something you do?
  4. What are some ways we can worship? What are some ways we can hallow God’s name?
  5. One way to worship is through song. What are some of your favorite worship songs?
  6. In what way is worship music a part of your life outside of church?
  7. Another way to worship God is to reflect on the attributes of God. How exactly would that work?
  8. The Psalms are God’s hymn book. Flip over to some random Psalm. See if you can find one that would be a great prompt for worship.
  9. Jesus said, “hallowed be your name.” It reminds us that another way to worship God is to use the names of God as a prompt. Can you think of some examples?
  10. Another way to worship is through nature. “The heavens declare the glory of God.” How does nature move you to worship? What are some of the most awe-inspiring places you have visited?
  11. Do you enjoy worship? What do you love about it?
  12. Let’s close in prayer. Just for fun, let’s restrict our prayer to just prayers of worship.
